About Aniki

Aniki is a podcast born of a desire of two brothers to share their obsession with the world. In the first season, brothers Ben and Jon review Hyouka and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. In the second season, they cover the fighting anime One Punch Man. In the third season, the brothers cover several short OVAs and movies. Starting in the fourth season, they transition to reviewing whole series in every episode.

Ben

Ben is the oldest brother on the Aniki podcast. He, like his brothers, was first exposed to Japan and Japanese culture when his family hosted an exchange student in the 90’s. This exposure only worsened when Toonami began airing dubiously dubbed versions of Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and Gundam Wing when he was in junior high. Hooked, he began to buy DVDs sight unseen throughout highschool and learned all he could from webrings and Alta Vista searches. When he reached college, a whole new world of anime consumption was opened up to him and a great binge occurred. He also managed to take several years of proper Japanese classes as well as two years of East Asian history before actually graduating and getting big people jobs. Adulthood did not stop the love of the medium. In fact, it probably only deepened it. He currently lives in Indiana with his wife.

Favorite anime: Juuni Kokuki, Mononoke, Scrapped Princess, Kill la Kill, and Aku no Hana.
Infrequently he reviews anime and other stuff on anime.falseblue.com.
He tires to maintain an objective presence on MyAnimeList.

Jon

Jon is the younger brother on the Aniki podcast. Exposed to anime through VHS copies of shows like Escaflowne and those on Toonami, he moved on to taking a degree in East Asian languages and cultures, or as he calls it, a B.A. in Weeabooism. He was a staple in his college anime club and frequented ACEN throughout his formative years. He now lives in Seattle with his wife.
